PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What Is Pultruded Fiberglass Grating?

Pultruded fiberglass grating is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant composite flooring and walkway material manufactured through the pultrusion process. Continuous glass fiber rovings are pulled through a resin bath and then through a heated die to form I-beam shaped bearing bars, which are cross-connected with round or square rods to create a rigid, open-mesh grating panel.

Unlike molded grating, pultruded grating features unidirectional fiber orientation in the bearing bars, providing superior strength-to-weight ratio and higher load capacities over longer spans. It typically supports concentrated loads up to 500 psf and can span up to 48 inches between supports, making it an ideal replacement for steel grating in corrosive environments.

Pultruded grating is available in standard panel sizes of 4×12 ft and 3×10 ft, with various resin systems including polyester, vinyl ester, and fire-retardant formulations. Surface options include concave or convex grit surface for anti-slip performance, meeting OSHA and ADA safety requirements for industrial walkways, platforms, trench covers, and drainage applications.

Features & Benefits

Key Features

Features

Highest Strength-to-Weight Ratio

Unidirectional fiber orientation in I-beam bearing bars delivers superior load capacity per pound compared to molded grating, supporting spans up to 48 inches.

Exceptional Corrosion Resistance

Impervious to a wide range of chemicals, acids, and saltwater. Outlasts steel grating 5:1 in corrosive environments with zero maintenance.

Integrated Anti-Slip Surface

Concave or convex grit surface provides superior slip resistance in wet, oily, or icy conditions. Meets OSHA and ADA slip-resistance requirements.

Fire-Retardant Options Available

Special fire-retardant resin formulations meet ASTM E84 Class I flame spread and smoke development requirements for code-compliant installations.

Low Maintenance & Long Life

No painting, coating, or protective treatments required. Pultruded grating delivers 20+ years of service in demanding industrial applications with minimal upkeep.
