FRP Cable Tray System Overview

Overview

What Is an FRP Cable Tray?

An FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) cable tray is a lightweight yet extremely strong cable support system designed for industrial cable management. Manufactured through the pultrusion process using fiberglass rovings and thermosetting resins, FRP cable trays provide superior corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, and structural integrity in the most demanding environments.

Unlike traditional steel or aluminum cable trays, FRP variants do not rust, corrode, or conduct electricity. This makes them the preferred choice for chemical plants, offshore platforms, wastewater treatment facilities, and power generation stations where exposure to corrosive agents, moisture, and electrical hazards is a daily concern.

Available in channel, ladder, and perforated configurations, FRP cable trays can be customized to suit any cable routing layout. With a high strength-to-weight ratio, UV-resistant options, and self-extinguishing fire-retardant properties, they deliver reliable performance for decades with minimal maintenance.

Key Features

Features

Superior Corrosion Resistance

FRP cable trays withstand harsh chemicals, saltwater, and acidic environments. Unlike steel, they never rust or corrode, providing decades of maintenance-free service in chemical plants, offshore platforms, and wastewater treatment facilities.

Electrically Non-Conductive & Spark-Proof

FRP is electrically insulating and non-sparking, making it ideal for cable management in power substations, data centers, and hazardous environments where electrical safety is critical.

Lightweight with High Strength-to-Weight Ratio

Weighing approximately one-fourth the weight of steel, FRP cable trays are easy to transport, handle, and install. Despite their light weight, they offer structural strength comparable to steel under normal load conditions.

Fire-Retardant & Self-Extinguishing

FRP cable trays are manufactured with fire-retardant resin systems that meet Class 1 flame spread ratings (BS 476). They self-extinguish when the flame source is removed, enhancing overall plant safety.

UV-Resistant & Weatherproof

With UV-stabilized resin formulations, FRP cable trays resist degradation from sunlight and extreme weather. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations across all climate zones.

Multiple Configurations

Available in channel type, ladder type, and perforated type to suit different cable loading requirements. All configurations come with compatible fittings, brackets, and covers for a complete cable management system.
