Certifications & Quality

Are your FRP products certified and tested?
Yes, FRP Shape is ISO 9001:2015 certified, ensuring consistent quality management across all manufacturing processes. Our products are tested for mechanical properties (tensile, flexural, compressive strength), flame spread and smoke generation (ASTM E84), UV resistance, and chemical resistance. We can provide material test reports (MTRs) and certifications upon request. Many of our profiles meet or exceed ASTM D4385, ASTM D3916, and other relevant industry standards.

Custom Manufacturing

Can you provide custom-manufactured FRP profiles?
Yes, custom manufacturing is a core capability at FRP Shape. We can produce custom-profile geometries, custom resin formulations (including fire-retardant, UV-resistant, and food-grade systems), custom colors, and custom surface textures. Minimum order quantities vary by complexity — typically 500–1,000 linear feet for new die development. Our engineering team will work with you from concept to production to optimize your custom profile for performance and cost.

What are FRP profiles and how are they made?
FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Polymer) profiles are composite materials made by combining high-strength fibers — typically fiberglass — with a polymer resin matrix through a pultrusion process. Continuous glass fibers are pulled through a resin bath and then through a heated die, which shapes and cures the material into a solid profile. The result is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant structural component that outperforms steel and aluminum in many demanding environments.
What types of FRP profiles do you offer?
FRP Shape offers a wide range of pultruded FRP profiles including I-beams, wide-flange beams, channels, angles, tubes (square and round), solid rods, flat sheets, grating, handrails, ladder rails, and custom shapes. How do FRP profiles compare to steel and aluminum?
FRP profiles typically offer a strength-to-weight ratio superior to both steel and aluminum. They weigh approximately 75% less than steel and 30% less than aluminum while maintaining comparable tensile strength. Unlike metals, FRP does not corrode, rust, or conduct electricity, making it ideal for chemical plants, offshore platforms, water treatment facilities, and electrical infrastructure. FRP also has excellent fatigue resistance and a service life that can exceed 25 years with minimal maintenance.

What is the typical lead time for FRP profile orders?
Lead times depend on order complexity and current production capacity. Standard-profile orders typically ship within 2–3 weeks from order confirmation. Custom-profile orders with new tooling generally require 4–6 weeks for die fabrication and initial production. Rush orders may be accommodated for an expedite fee — please discuss your timeline with our sales team. We recommend placing orders as early as possible for large-scale or custom projects.
Do you offer volume discounts for large orders?
Yes, we offer tiered pricing based on order volume. Discounts typically apply at 1,000+, 5,000+, and 10,000+ linear feet for standard profiles. Custom profiles are evaluated individually based on tooling amortization and production efficiency. FRP Shape ships worldwide from our manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. We offer standard LTL freight, full truckload (FTL), and international ocean/air freight options. All shipments are properly packaged and protected to prevent damage during transit. Domestic orders typically arrive within 5–10 business days after shipment.
